Isn’t a pumpkin a wonderful thing? I mean, who would have thought that you could make so many amazing things out of it? Pumpkin pie, cookies, cakes, pancakes, cobblers, ice cream…the list goes on and on! Now we can add this Pumpkin Pie Milkshake to that list.
The first time I tried this, I was in rapture. I literally could not believe that anything could taste this good. It’s also the way I feel when I eat my Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream, or Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream. But if you haven’t got time to make ice cream, this milkshake is just the ticket.
All you do is mix some pumpkin pureé with some vanilla ice cream and some sugar and spices, and voila! Magic is born. So if you bought a big can of pumpkin pureé to make a pumpkin pie but realized you only needed half the can and are now wringing your hands wondering what the heck you will do with that leftover pumpkin, you are in luck.
One of the great things about this milkshake is that it is healthy! Just hear me out.
Pumpkin=fiber, good eyesight, lower blood pressure, healthier heart.
Milk=good bone strength, protein for strong muscles
Spices=antioxidant properties
So yeah, it’s healthy, as long as you ignore all the sugar 🙂
You can use either canned pumpkin, or your own pumpkin puree. (See my tutorial on how to easily make your own).
- 2/3 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/2-1 cup milk cream, half and half, almond milk, or soy milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. ginger
- 1/8 tsp. cloves
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg plus more for sprinkling on top if desired
- 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 4 cups vanilla ice cream
- Add all ingredients to a powerful blender and blend well.
- Add more milk (or any of the other options listed) until desired consistency is reached.
- Pour into glasses and top with a sprinkle of nutmeg, whipped cream, or crushed graham crackers.
You may want to blend this in two batches if it won't all fit in your blender.
