Mint Lover’s Ice Cream. Orange Creamsicle Ice Cream. Lemon Meringue Pie Ice Cream. What do all these ice creams have in common (besides being amazingly delicious)? I use DoTERRA essential oils to flavor them.Β When developing an ice cream flavor, I try to use natural ingredients, like real fruit, and essential oils. Using these helps me feel better about my ice cream. Like all the sugar and fat mean nothing, because I have filled the ice cream with antioxidants from strawberries; or because my digestion and breathing will be enhanced by the real peppermint oil I have added. (I tell myself what I have to). But hey, if you’re going to have ice cream, you might as well get some health benefits from it. (I know that normally “ice cream” and “health” are not found in the same sentence. I’m just crazy like that).
Today, I have a special guest who is an expert in the use of essential oils. She is going to tell you about some of her favorites, as well as how essential oils played an enormous role in healing her son from a debilitating illness. Read clear to the bottom to find out how you can win a free bottle of either Wild Orange or Lemon essential oil (two of my favorites!) So here is Trisha!
What are some of your ice cream memories? My dad had a special bowl my mom filled with ice cream on Sunday afternoons as he sat down to rest from his labors of the week and gear up for the week ahead. It was a time when my siblings and IΒ (there were 6 of us) were able to sit and rub his feet, and hear him talk about various topics; or we could chat his ear off depending on our mood. Ice cream meant βquality time.β Many families have very fond memories of large family gatherings where the highlight was βGrandpaβs Strawberry Ice Creamβ or βMomβs Peaches and Cream Delight.β In most cases, the ice cream had an award-winning fabulous fruit, or a flavoring that made it renowned among generations of eaters. Today is no different. We love a fresh batch of homemade ice cream and take great care and pride in the ingredients that create this masterpiece of mouthwatering memories.
When preparing food for my family, I wanted a more natural option instead of the alcohol-filled flavorings found at the grocery store. I have fallen in love with the quality flavors of DoTERRA essential oils! I am extra-aware of the organic benefits of non-GMO food, and that means flavorings, too. Why compromise on excellent taste when it is available at nearly the click of a button? I love to share oils with everyone, just like I delight in making treats for those I love with the best ingredients to show how much I care!
Some of my favorite oils to use in cooking and food preparation are Wild Orange, Peppermint, Lemon, Lime,Β Black Pepper, Oregano, Cinnamon and Clove. Β You likely have many of these spices in your kitchen, but the oils have a much longer shelf life than traditional powdered spices and require much smallerΒ amounts to flavor and enhance foods.
The coolΒ refreshing taste of peppermint is unmistakable. Β The entire plant contains menthol, an organic compound with anesthetic properties.Β Menthol provides a wonderful cooling sensation, stimulating and increasing blood circulation,Β whileΒ other compounds in theΒ peppermint oilΒ naturally alleviate discomfort withΒ antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory,Β and antispasmodic properties.Β These properties make it a great oil for helping with bad breath, varicose veins, headaches and migraines, fatigue, as well as digestive issues like indigestion and flatulence.Β DoTERRA peppermint oil is very concentrated, and oneΒ drop is equivalent to drinking 27 cups of peppermint tea.
Cold pressed from the rind, Wild Orange oil isΒ both calming and uplifting.Β The high quantity of monoterpenes is touted for itsΒ ability to reduce and eliminate toxins from the body. A very inexpensive oil, this is an asset to have in the kitchen. Desserts, main dishes, sides, and salads are enhanced with this oil. You canβt go wrong when choosing Wild Orange.
DoTERRA essential oils are sourced from indigenous locations around the world. You can read more information about sourcing here.
My name is Trisha Craig and I am an Oil User, Lover and Educator. I provide the best oils for my family through DoTERRA and I am confident in their power, purity and purpose. I have seen the lifesaving effects of these oils over and over. Most importantly for me was the time when my fifth child, while still in the NICU, developed staph infections. His body was covered with a red rash and painful sores.Β We were so grateful when his pediatrician, after admitting that nothing they had tried had worked, allowed us to use oils on our son while in the hospital.Β So I set to work, documenting and learning all I could about these CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) oils. The miracles began within three days of applying Melaleuca oil, and I could see the skin starting to reform on his cheeks. By three months there was a clear difference in his skin and demeanor. He loved the oils and would wait patiently while I applied them. It was near the nine-month mark that his blood workΒ wasΒ clear of staph. He has no scars, skin differentiation, or any hint of damage from the awful staph infections that covered more than 90% of his body. I LOVE oils and they are a safe tool I can use to care for my family! You can have these tools, too, for better wellness andΒ to enjoy the fabulous tastes to enhance your foods.Β My website is www.mydoterra.com/trishacraig.
