Every year since time immemorial, I have gotten my three girls Christmas dresses.
In the early days, I got them matching dresses (usually from Costco), and they looked adorable.
But then they got older and things started breaking down. The middle child, in classic middle-child fashion, decided she did not want to match her sisters. The year she chose a glaring red dress while her older and younger sister wore matching blue dresses, was the beginning of the end.
You would think that since I no longer had to find matching dresses, things would be easier. Not so. Especially since I am a “cheapo” and do not want to spend more than $20 on a dress.
Add that to the fact that the manufacturers of these Christmas dresses apparently have NO concept of “winter,” and insist on making short-sleeved and even sleeveless dresses, and I am really up a creek. We live in Colorado. There is actual winter here. We need dresses with LONG SLEEVES, thank you very much!
So last year found me desperately searching every physical and online store for three Christmas dresses that had long sleeves, were cute, under $20, and had a cohesive theme. You would think I was on a quest for the elusive magical non-existent unicorn. Because no such dresses were to be found.
So what did I do? I spent $60 on material to make my girls super fluffy skirts with silky fabric and tulle and sparkles. Then I went to every Target in town to find them matching sweaters (another $20 each) which they did not end up wearing. Oh, and their sparkly, fluffy skirts? Currently hanging ignored in their closets after having been worn once.
Don’t do what I did. Just enter this contest to win a $200 Amazon gift card (or Target gift card, or cold, hard cash!) and buy whichever darn Christmas dresses you want, no matter the price! Not in the market for Christmas dresses? Well, whatever you’re in the market for, Amazon has it. (I just discovered these Polish Pottery Pie Plates, and I am in love! There are a ton of designs, too!)
