Everybody loves those Disney Princess surveys. I know I do 🙂
Today I want to do a whole new take on the Disney Princess thing and help you see which Princess shares YOUR particular Energy Type.
Now you may be wondering exactly what I mean when I say “Energy Type.” Generally speaking, there is “introverted” energy, and “extroverted” energy. We have all probably figured out if we are an introvert or an extrovert.
But Energy Profiling, developed by Carol Tuttle, goes much deeper than just these two categories of energy. In Energy Profiling, there are four Types of Energy.
Here is a brief overview of each Type. As you read, see if you can figure out which one is your dominant Type. (We all have elements of every Type, but one is stronger than the others). Most of the words depict strengths of each Type. But I’ve also included some words that depict challenges, just to help you have more information to help you discover your own particular Type of Energy. Please understand that if you are a Type 1, for example, not EVERY word will describe you. But a lot of them will. So let’s get started!

Do any of these Energy Types sound like you? Remember that you are a combination of all of them. So for now, pick two that resonate the best with you.
Now it’s time to find out which Disney Princess shares your Energy Type!
(I checked with Dressing Your Truth’s resident Disney Princess Expert, Anne Tuttle Brown, to verify the Energy Types of the Disney Princesses. Anne shared this list as an update to what Carol Tuttle (creator of Dressing Your Truth) has said before, as she has become more of a Princess expert, being the mom of a 4 1/2 year old daughter.)
If you are a Type 1, you are like
Rapunzel!
Rapunzel is sweet and adorable. She’s effervescent and puts of such a light, airy, fun energy. She’s creative (as evidenced by all the art on her walls, and all the activities she does in her tower, like ventriloquy and candle-making). She is a little too trusting, but she’s filled with awe and wonder and is so excited for new experiences.
Other Type 1 Princesses: Ariel, Snow White, and Anna.
If you are a Type 2, you are like
Cinderella!
Cinderella is the super-sweet, quintessential princess. Kind and gentle to everyone (even mice), she puts off calm, humble energy. She is hard-working and dependable. Her voice is very soft and sweet. She is a perfect example of loveliness in every way.
Other Type 2 Princesses: Belle.
If you are a Type 3, you are like
Merida!
Nobody’s going to tell her what to do! If she has an idea, she takes action (when she should probably think about it a little more before barging ahead). Stifled by rules and regulations, she bucks convention. (Instead of allowing a suitor to demonstrate their skill by shooting an arrow in order to win her as a wife, she shakes out her hair and declares that she will be shooting for her OWN hand!)
Other Type 3 Princesses: Jasmine, Tiana, and Mulan.
If you are a Type 4, you are like
Elsa!
Elsa has felt like she needs to be “perfect.” So much is expected of her, and she expects so much of herself. Serious and poised, she is the perfect queen. She finds her power when she makes a decision to declare her independence from her fear. And she does so in dramatic fashion!
Other Type 4 Princesses: Aurora and Pocahontas.
So, which one are you?
If you’re not sure which Type you are, there is a free online course called Dressing Your Truth that helps you discover what it is. You can sign up for it here.
It has literally changed my life. (You can read all about my experience in my More Than a Makeover section).

I would love to win a free DYT course! I think I’m a type one or type three.
Melissa Howell says
Thanks so much for commenting! I wish everybody could win!
Cherie says
Hello, I’ve already taken the free profiling course, and would love to be able to take the dyt course. It’s not in the budget now so i would love to win it! Thanks for offering a great give away!
Melissa Howell says
You are welcome! If you don’t win, this is definitely something to put on your “list of things to buy.” (But it would be awesome if you won!)
Porsche says
I have always LOVED Mulan. Then Merida came along and spoke to my soul. Yep, you guessed it! Type 3 here through and through.
Melissa Howell says
I LOVE Mulan, too! That’s one of my favorite Disney movies of all time!
Julia says
I so want to win this!!! I have taken the free course. I still struggle with who I am. I think I am a Type 1, but would LOVE to have that affirmed! I would also love to get some ideas for hairdos as I won’t cut my hair. 🙂
Melissa Howell says
Type 1’s look so cute with short hair! Get ready!
Jennifer says
I would LOVE the DYT Course…It sounds Amazing!!!
Melissa Howell says
It’s BEYOND amazing! The best thing I have ever invested in for myself!
Marcie says
I have typed myself as a 3, after reading a few of Carol’s books and taking the free profiling course. I love Mulan, but my favorite Disney Princess is Belle. I don’t see her here, but I think we could claim her as a 3! 🙂
Melissa Howell says
Hi Marcie! I wasn’t sure about Belle, so I consulted with the people at Dressing Your Truth, and they confirmed that she is a Type 3! I have added her to the list above.
Michelle K. says
Okay, am I a Type 4? Been through the free course many times (literally about to watch it again), watching boatloads of confirm your type and makeover videos, constantly thinking about it every second of every day, always perfecting others’ grammar and punctuation or spelling in written documents… anyway, I noticed this comment shortly after reading Belle as being an example of another Type 2 Princess, so I’m wondering which one she is. Super curious! 😉
Thanks for all you do! <3 Have a blessed day! 😀
Melissa Howell says
Hi Michelle! I am right there with you with the grammar, spelling, and punctuation correction! I can’t help myself! About Belle–the DYT people originally cast her as a Type 3, but then they changed their minds and said she is actually Type 2 with a secondary Type 3. So you’ll see her listed with Cinderella above. (I have always thought she was a Type 2). Thanks so much for your comment!
sarah says
Im a 2 and have always loved all versions of the Cinderalla movies.
Melissa Howell says
My favorite Cinderella movie is Ever After with Drew Barrymore! Love how she’s so strong! (And the movie is just funny, too 🙂
Lora says
Love to win the coarse – defiantly the Cinderella type 2. Sometimes it looks like people take advantage of my big heart but in the end I got my prince and my castle!
Melissa Howell says
We need people like you with big hearts! And I love that you got your prince and your castle! So cute!
Kate says
Would love to know what type Belle is – Really thought she might’ve been type 2, but after reading your post, I see Cinderella is the only type 2!
Thanks in advance!
Melissa Howell says
Hi Kate! I originally thought Belle might be a Type 2 (she looks like one and reads books and likes to be alone). But I think she is a secondary Type 2. The Dressing Your Truth people say she is a Type 3, and I can totally see that! The first thing she does when she gets to the castle is leave her room to go exploring (against orders), refuse to come down to dinner, and then she yells at the Beast after he saves her from the wolves! She’s definitely got some fire in her!
Melissa Howell says
I need to amend this comment to say that the DYT people changed their minds about Belle and have now categorized her as a Type 2 with a secondary 3!
Leslie Jones says
I think this is amazing that you are doing this give-a-way. Thank you! I’ve read a lot of Carol’s books and have recently wanted and needed a change and have been looking into this more. I’d love to win to get a professional’s opinion of what to do with my hair, make-up, wardrobe, etc… I need guidance in this and feel like this would be an amazing experience and opportunity! Thanks again!
Melissa Howell says
Leslie, you will LOVE the Dressing Your Truth program! It has made me feel so much more confident and helped me to accept and love myself the way I am! It’s so awesome to know what your true gifts and talents are, and how to look great every day!
Lacy says
I would love to win a DYT course!!!
Melissa Howell says
I hope you do!
Kate Ortega says
You forgot about Tiana! I personally think she is a Type 3 swift dynamic energy. Girl gets stuff done!
Melissa Howell says
Hi Kate! I just amended my post to say that I didn’t leave her off on purpose! I’m just waiting for the DYT people to give me an official decision on her, since they haven’t seen The Princess and the Frog. I can see how she would be a Type 3, but I also have my reasons for thinking she may be a Type 4. We shall see!
Lisa says
I have had so much fun doing the free course! I would love the full course but that is not in the budget so would love to win! Thanks for such a generous and useful giveaway.
Melissa Howell says
I hope you win! But if not, the full course is definitely something worth saving up for!
Candy says
Cinderella! My favorite princess. Would love to win a DYT cause for a women at work
Melissa Howell says
That would be so fun! It’s awesome when you can share Dressing Your Truth with others!
Wyndham says
I would love to win the Dressing Your Truth course! I’ve been wanting for months and just haven’t had in the budget. Thanks fur this cool article! I’ve wanted to energy profile the disney princesses ever since I learned about energy profiling. I’m a T4. I have always felt I had something in common with Elsa.
Melissa Howell says
I’m Type 4, too! And I have also always wanted to profile the Disney Princesses. Thus, this post 🙂 Thanks for commenting!
Mari says
You left off Princess Tiana
Melissa Howell says
Hi Mari. I just amended my post with a comment about her. I’m not 100% sure which Type she is, and the Dressing Your Truth people have never seen the movie. So I’m waiting until I hear back from them! I don’t want to put her in the wrong spot!
Constance says
My Dad used to call me Cinderella….maybe he had better insight than I did! 😀 Type 2, I believe! 🙂
Jen says
I think I’m a 2. Always loved different cinderella movies but sometimes I do wish I am not a 2. I don’t want to be emotional all the time or being sensitive to others feelings and being told grumpy. I just wish ny family will take time to read energy profiling and understand why I am the way I am as I am doing my best to be considerate of their own energy profiles. Thanks for this post and for the chance to win Carol’s DYT Course.
Melissa Howell says
I know! I wish everybody would read “It’s Just My Nature” so we can understand each other so much better! But aren’t you glad YOU know about it so you can understand your family better? I know it has helped me a lot. Still, nobody likes to be told they are grumpy 🙁
Steph B says
Well, I was already pretty sure I’m type 3, then the list of type 3 princesses was the same as my favorite princesses. Awesome! I’d love a chance to win the DYT course. Thanks for the fun post!
Barbara Farr says
It’s a toss up between a type 2 and a type 4.
I love Pocahontas and Cinderella.
Esther says
I’m a type 1 and my friends always call me Giselle, from Enchanted! She’s bubbly and sweet and comical, another win for us type 1 ladies!
Melissa Howell says
Yes! I love Type 1s!
