Pear Crumble Ice Cream
Author: Melissa Howell
Ingredients
  • 3 large ripe pears
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 c. heavy whipping cream
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. sugar
  • Crumble Topping for Ice Cream optional
Instructions
  1. Peel, core and slice pears. Saute in 1 Tbsp. butter over medium heat in a saucepan on the stove. When pears are softened and almost translucent, transfer to a blender and puree.
  2. Pour pureed pears into a bowl and add sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Put in refrigerator to cool (about one hour).
  3. When pear and sugar mixture is cool, add the milk and heavy whipping cream. Mix well, then add to your ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer's directions. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for several hours.
  4. If you are adding the crumble topping into the ice cream, break it up into bite-sized chunks and fold it in the ice cream after transferring it to the airtight container. Try not to just pour in the topping, as there will be many crumbs and it will ruin the texture of your ice cream.
