Every year, we make New Year’s Resolutions. Have you ever made any of the following resolutions?
- Lose weight
- Exercise more
- Eat more healthy foods
- Be more confident in social situations
These are very common goals, and are to be admired. Most of them involve looking better and feeling better. But what about the following goals?
- Accept myself for who I am, recognizing my gifts and talents and the value I bring to the world
- Project to the world who I truly am on the inside
I will tell you that those two goals have as much or more to do with looking better and feeling better than the goals mentioned at the top of this post. Although we have been taught that “looks don’t matter,” I firmly believe that how you look affects how you feel. I am in NO WAY saying that we should all try to be supermodels or that we should run out and get plastic surgery. What I am saying is that every woman is beautiful, and that beauty is amplified when our true natures are aligned with what we present to the world through our clothing, hairstyles, and accessories.
I am talking about a revolutionary makeover program that doesn’t look at skin color, body type or hair color. This makeover program looks at your true nature—your inner beauty–to determine what will make you shine. (As a bonus, it also helps you look younger and thinner!)
You already know that some days you look great, while other days, you don’t, even though you put in the same amount of effort on both days. There is a reason for this. It’s because what you are putting on your body is at odds with your true nature and your true beauty.
Obviously, not every style looks great on every person. Even things that are “fashionable” or deemed “in style” will never look good on everybody. When you think about this, it totally makes sense.
I want you to imagine the most upbeat, bubbly, optimistic, fun person that you know. Do you have them in mind? Now I want you to picture them in a black, tailored business suit. To take this one step further, imagine how they would feel in that black, tailored business suit.
Now I want you to imagine the most sophisticated, authoritative, and determined person you know. Picture them in a light pink ruffled shirt with big round dangly earrings. Imagine how this person would feel in that light pink ruffled shirt with the big round dangly earrings.
Do you see the disconnect between the true natures of these people and what they are wearing?
The makeover program I mentioned before is called Dressing Your Truth. In this program, there are four types of women. Type One women are characterized as “bright” and “animated.” Type Two women are described as “Soft” and “Subtle.” Type Three women are called “rich” and “dynamic.” And Type Four women are called “bold” and “striking.” (To learn more specifics about each of these types, just click on their links).
The first step is to identify which “type” of woman you are. Don’t worry about being “pigeonholed.” Everybody has elements of all the types in them, and you can certainly incorporate certain aspects of your second most dominant type into your outward expression. To find out your type, you can take this free online video course. I also highly recommend the book “It’s Just My Nature!” by Carol Tuttle. (You can order it by clicking on the link, or your local library may also have it). The book is extremely helpful and thorough and will help you not only understand yourself, but your husband, children, co-workers, and everyone around you! It’s like therapy for your soul!
Dressing Your Truth not only helps you know how to look your best, but how to feel your best. It teaches you about your true intrinsic gifts and talents, and about the gifts and talents of others. Since going through the Dressing Your Truth program, I have come to understand everybody in a different way. Suddenly, how they think and how they act makes sense! Now let’s see the difference this program makes in each type of woman. (As a side note, three out of four of these women are over 40 years old!)
Type One–The Bright, Animated Woman
Type Two–The Soft, Subtle Woman
Type Three–The Rich, Dynamic Woman
Type 4–The Bold, Striking Woman
I want you to notice in the “after” pictures that all these women are hardly wearing any makeup. What they are wearing is the confidence that comes with knowing who they truly are, and knowing how to project that to the world.
Here is what just two of these women had to say about Dressing Your Truth:
“The three main things I have taken away from my Dressing Your Truth experience are:
1. I feel so much more confident in my fashion decisions and choices. Everything in my closet looks fantastic together. I feel great in my clothes and in my own skin.
2. I have learned to accept and love my family and friends for who they are, instead of trying to change them.
3. I see my own and others’ strengths much more clearly. The world often feels judgmental and focused on the negative. I really like that Dressing Your Truth acknowledges weakness, but emphasizes the strengths of the different types.”
–Holly
“Dressing Your Truth caused a profound paradigm shift that will continue to influence me throughout my life. Understanding what honors my energy type has improved many areas of my life. Relationships with my husband and children, friends and relatives, and even my relationship with myself have become less complicated. I’m returning to and enjoying talents that I had abandoned and am gaining new talents. I’m more excited about my life than I have been in years. Dressing Your Truth teaches me to live my truth, and life just keeps getting better and better!”
