Survey: Do you do most of your home decor shopping online, or in an actual store?
I do almost all of mine in person. And here’s why. Even though there are some pros to online shopping, I feel they are vastly outweighed by the pitfalls. See if you agree!
Pros of home decor shopping online:
- You can see hundreds of options without even leaving your home!
- You can have everything delivered.
Cons of home decor shopping online:
- You can’t judge the quality of an item just by seeing it on the screen.
- Since the colors of computer screens vary, what you order online may not end up matching your home.
- You usually have to pay for shipping.
- The size of the item could be much different than you had imagined.
It’s true–online shopping is convenient, but you do take a risk every time you do it!
Five Great Cheap Home Decor Stores
When you want to make sure something will go perfectly in your bedroom or living room, it’s best to see the item in person. But which stores have the best deals on the cutest stuff? Let me tell you about five of my favorites!
Home Goods is my all-time favorite store for affordable, unique home decor. It’s a large store full of all kinds of dishware, rugs, chairs, and even pet accessories. I’ve found most of my favorite dishes and stands for presenting food at Home Goods. TJMaxx and Marshalls are also partner stores, so you can find home decor in those stores as well–just not as much. They are always changing their selection, so there are new things whenever I go in.
World Market is a fun store with all kinds of home decor from around the world. If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary or with some international flavor, this store always has interesting articles.
Burlington Coat Factory sells way more than just coats! Aside from being one of my favorite clothing stores, they also have a fairly large home decor section. You can find bedding, towels, curtains, and all kinds of other things there!
Ross Dress for Less also has a section devoted to home decor, much like TJMaxx and Marshalls. It’s worth it to check in here occasionally to see what new things have been stocked.
Goodwill and other consignment stores in your area are often great places for dishes and servingware. I would pass on any padded furniture or pillows–but hard furniture, like desks or lamps, can be had for great prices.
