I’m a sweater person. Are you a sweater person? In my younger days, I had no idea which kinds of sweaters looked good on me. I tended to buy sweaters that were HUGE, and shall we say, not flattering.
Now that I am confident in my personal style thanks to Dressing Your Truth, I know exactly what kinds of things I look good in.
If you’ve never heard of Dressing Your Truth, it’s a program that teaches you how to dress according to your Energy Type. Are you an extroverted, life-of-the-party type person? If so, you’re going to look amazing in upbeat, light-weight, fun clothes. Are you an introverted, hang-back-and-observe kind of person? Then you’re going to look good in more structured, serious clothing. It totally makes sense to me!
In the Dressing Your Truth Program, there are four Energy Types:
- Type 1: Bright and Animated
- Type 2: Soft and Subtle
- Type 3: Rich and Dynamic
- Type 4: Bold and Striking
I’ve put together outfits for Fall for each of the four Types. Take a look and see which styles you’re most drawn to. But just because you like certain clothing doesn’t mean it’s your true Type. I was super attracted to Type 2 clothing, but I’m actually a Type 4. Now that I know, I absolutely LOVE my Type 4 clothes. I’ve never felt more confident and beautiful, and I’ve gotten SO many compliments!

Type 1 Fall Fashion
Type 1s will have somewhat of a difficult time finding clothes in the correct colors during Fall (I am sorry to say). Pastels and lighter colors are not exactly filling up the stores at this time of year! Your best bet is to look for navy blues and chocolate browns. Aside from that, who says you can’t wear pink in the Fall? Don’t go for bulky sweaters. Use lighter-weight cardigans and jackets as layering pieces. Add a fun scarf, and you are all set!
Type 2 Fall Fashion
Type 2s, on the other hand, can go for the big, fluffy sweaters! You typically love things that are soft and comfortable that make you feel cozy. Look for muted, dusty colors. Gray is your signature color for fall.
Type 3 Fall Fashion
Fall was made for Type 3s! All kinds of rich browns, oranges, greens, and yellows are going to look fantastic on you. Look for clothing with a lot of texture (like cable-knit sweaters).
Type 4 Fall Fashion
Look for pure, bold colors, like red and black. Keep your cuts streamlined and classic. You look amazing in fitted jackets.

I came back to shop at the online Dressing Your Truth store. However, it looks like you’re only selling make-up and accessories. if you do still have an online store for clothing for Type 3, please send me the web site address. Thanks!
Hi Linda. Unfortunately, the Dressing Your Truth online store has discontinued selling clothing. It’s a bummer! I wish they were still selling clothing, too. I have noticed a lot of Type 3 clothing at Target and Kohl’s lately. Good luck!
Hi! I am new to discovering your truth and appreciate your articles! I am a type 1/3 combo. I honestly like very few of the type 1 colors. I love type 3 colors and they look really good on me! Should I go with these colors in the type 1 shapes?
Hi Regina! So glad you found Dressing Your Truth! I totally understand your feelings about not liking your primary colors. When I first saw the Type 4 colors, I was horrified! But I decided to try them out anyway and I was totally surprised by how good they looked! In DYT, they say you can mix and match all the elements of your primary and secondary types, EXCEPT the colors. So for now, I’d advise you to try out just Type 1 colors for a month and see if they grow on you. You may be surprised! Let me know how it goes!
