Are you interested in Energy Profiling? Do you want to explore your type? Do you think you might be a Type 2 in the Dressing Your Truth world? If so, read on to see how this gorgeous woman discovered that she was a Type 2, and how her life has changed since learning about her true nature!
This is my dearest friend, Jana. We met because a former mutual boyfriend introduced us to each other. In our first conversation with each other, we found out that we had both dated the guy who introduced us, and ANOTHER guy. So the two of us, without ever knowing each other, had dated two of the same men in college (on a campus of over 30,000).
It gets even weirder. Our birthdays are one day apart, the same year. From our first meeting, we knew we were destined to be friends forever!
Jana went to Japan with me. We both became teachers. And we both discovered Dressing Your Truth.
What is Dressing Your Truth?
Dressing Your Truth is a program developed by a woman named Carol Tuttle. It’s a whole system of style that is based on a person’s natural energy, rather than their hair, skin, or eye color, or body shape.
There are four “Types” in the Dressing Your Truth system. Each type looks best in certain colors, fabrications, patterns, cuts, and design lines.
With Jana, her true beauty was being completely hidden in her “before” picture. Even though she is wearing lipstick and a classic white shirt, she just kind of disappears.
But in her “after” picture, she totally comes to life! People often think that wearing gray or muted colors causes them to be invisible or look boring. But if you are a Type 2 woman, those colors make you amazing!
This system throws conventional wisdom on its head, and it’s amazing! It works for everyone.
The first step is figuring out which type you are. To help you do that, I have a post explaining each Type in detail!
How Did Dressing Your Truth Change Jana’s Life?
I interviewed Jana to find out how Dressing Your Truth has affected her life. Read on to see if you can relate to Jana, or if you can share this post with anybody you know who might be a Type 2 woman!
Me: How did you first learn about Dressing Your Truth, and what attracted you to it?
Jana: You introduced me to DYT. I was attracted to it because, just like most people, I’m interested in learning about personality types. The more you told me about it, the more I realized that it went deeper than that. The fact of it all being based around energy really intrigued me and when I realized my T2 energy type, it all rang true to me and gave me a huge sense of peace and relief that I can be myself and not feel bad about it. I don’t have to try to be like other people, such as my T4 husband—it’s actually better that we are different.
Me: How did you know you were a Type 2?
Jana: Just reading the list of words Carol has in It’s Just My Nature helped me to narrow it down to either a 4 or a 2. Then I read both of the chapters on those two types and realized that T2 described my true nature the very best. I was already naturally wearing my hair as a Type 2 would and most of my clothing was already the color and style of Type 2. It all made sense and I felt free and gained the confidence that I had always struggled to feel.
Me: What are some of the challenges you have faced as a Type 2 woman?
Jana: Some of the challenges that I’ve faced as a T2 woman is feeling inferior to the other types since I’m not as fun, as bold, or as beautiful as they are.
I’m slower in getting things done because I take longer to make decisions. I was always criticized for that and thought it was a weaknesses, but now I realize it’s because of my nature.
My talent for being detail-oriented and thinking everything through thoroughly is something special in me and explains why I like certain things and why I’m different. The world needs my energy and gifts more than I ever realized. I lacked a lot of self confidence until I discovered my true nature and how awesome it is!
Me: What do you love about being a Type 2 woman?
Jana: I love my colors and style. I love how comfortable I can be being myself and my ability to connect with others to help them feel comfortable with my soft nature.
I love that I’m not usually the center of attention but I can move quietly in the background doing my thing to make a difference as I choose. I can be a part of life and feel like I fit in.
Me: How has knowing your Type and the Types of others changed your relationships with them?
Jana: Knowing my Type has helped me feel more comfortable with myself, which as a result makes my relationships better and easier to be in. I’m not afraid to stand my ground as much and am more confident. I’m not worried about bugging or offending others because being nice and thinking of the comfort of others is my nature.
I am a gift to the people in my life. “To know me is to love me.” If there is a problem, I have confidence to work it out.

One should not let their appearance decide what they shall wear and what shall they not. Amazing article.

I just now found this article. I’m a T2 and also felt inferior to the other 3 types. Jana is so beautiful. I know this article was in 2019, but I sure wish I knew her makeup colors in this photo. Absolutely beautiful.

Hi Dianne! So glad you found this article! I hope you feel amazing to be a Type 2! It’s the Type I wanted to be! I’ll see if Jana knows her makeup colors for you!

I feel like I am 50% type 2 and 50% type 4. I have to say this is typical for me. When I do any of the other personality quizzes I show as a 2 but so close to being the equivalent of a 4. In leadership quizzes I am almost right in the center of all types. I was told this is very unusual. I never felt like I fit in. I am shy and introverted yet when I get to know people can be loud but this is not sustainable for me. Not sure where to go.

Hi Joan. First of all, thanks for sharing your struggle! I always like to say that people who are evenly divided between the types are well-rounded! Honestly, you sound a lot like me (shy and introverted, yet fun and loud around friends). For you, I would suggest taking a good look at your facial features, and then see how you feel in both Type 2 and Type 4 clothes and makeup. For me, it’s very clear that I look WAY better in Type 4 clothes than Type 2 clothes. So that clinched the deal for me. Have you done the free online course? Have you read “It’s Just My Nature?” I’m not supposed to tell people which type they are (and since I’ve never seen you and don’t know you, I couldn’t anyway). But hopefully some suggestions here will help!
