It’s time to pick a planner for 2019! Learn why planning on paper is superior to planning digitally, and discover the best planner for 2019!
It’s hard to believe that 2019 is just around the corner! After all the holidays are over, we naturally start thinking about the new year and all the goals we want to accomplish. But how many times have you written a goal on a random piece of paper, only to lose it and forget about the goal? (Guilty!) Paper planners have become really popular in recent years, and for good reason.
Do you use a paper planner? I know that many of us just use our phones or some kind of digital planner to try to stay organized. But science has proven that paper planners are actually way more effective than digital planners.
My friend Cherie of the company Liam & June has written this post all about it: The Science Behind Why You Love Your Paper Planner.
One key takeaway is that we actually remember more when we write things down versus typing them out. In fact, some universities have asked students to go old-school and take hand-written notes rather than bringing their laptops to class.
I love this quote from an article in Quartz Magazine:
“The time it takes to handwrite tasks allows us identify priorities and reframe goals in a way that typing cannot. Just as the act of handwriting notes in class has been proven to encourage deep thought for students, a paper-based planner offers space to contemplate the events of the day and scheme ideas for tomorrow. Instead of slapdash scribbles on Post-its and mindless calendar synching, writing on a planner offers a moment of reflection on the events of the day.”
There are TONS of different planners out there. From a simple notebook, to a leather-bound all-encompassing “you can store your whole life in here along with the kitchen sink” planner, there is something that is perfect for everyone.
If you’d like something a little nicer than a school notebook, but don’t really want or need a super expensive, fat planner, then I have the perfect solution for you!
Don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself a “professional!” Cherie designed this planner because as a professional, she couldn’t find anything that perfectly met her needs. So she designed a planner that had everything in it she always wanted. Want a sneak peek?

I love this planner for so many reasons! The size is just perfect. So many planners are big and bulky and hard to transport. This planner will easily fit into my purse, and is lightweight.
It’s hardbound, so you don’t have to worry about metal spirals getting crushed or misshapen. Even though it is hardbound, it stays open easily, and there are bookmarks so you can quickly find the pages you want.
The design is gorgeous. It is sleek with beautiful fonts, and subtle Japanese elements. (If you know me, you know I lived in Japan and love everything Japanese! So that’s a big plus for me!) Also, the cover is subtly sparkly, and you can never go wrong with just a teeny bit of bling 🙂
Another thing I love is that there is a “Reading and Media List.” This is where I can keep track of all the books I want to read and all the movies or shows that have been recommended to me.
