Growing up, trifle was a staple Sunday dessert. My mom made it with yellow cake, strawberries or raspberries, strawberry jello, vanilla pudding, and whipped cream on top. I thought this was the ONLY way to make trifle. Boy, was I wrong! Turns out there is a whole library of trifle recipes out there, and so many luscious variations!

For some reason, I forgot about trifle until last Sunday when I made it for my family. They had never had it before. My second daughter literally ate half of the entire bowl.
