Are you a chronic magazine subscriber? Do you waste time looking through magazines or catalogs that you don’t really love? Do you have a stash of old catalogs that you are keeping for no discernible reason? Guilty as charged.
Every time a Chadwicks catalog comes in the mail, I look through it, even though each one is almost exactly like the previous one and even though I hardly ever order anything from them. I have a knee-high pile of religious magazines that I have read, but will never read again. I’ve got B&H catalogs for photographic equipment that sit forlornly on my office shelves. Why do I have all these things when I can easily find all this information online? It is time to stop using my house as a garbage can and get rid of all this unnecessary paper!
I used to get two photography magazines. I really liked these, but realized some time ago that the stack was getting too high. So I went through each one and pulled out articles that I liked and put them all in a 3-inch binder. I have looked in that binder once. Don’t fall into this trap! It will just waste your time. Honestly, every article I kept contains information that I can easily and quickly discover on the internet.
Dealing with magazines and catalogs is easy. Throw them all away. That’s it. The only exceptions I can think of is when you have personally been published in a magazine and feel the need to keep it, or if there is a particular magazine (a single issue) that brings you a great amount of joy. Otherwise, grab your recycle bin and fill it up!

Next week’s challenge: Papers
I pretty much agree, Adrian. We end up paying for guilt because we don’t get around to reading these. Many times we get subscriptions to magazines as a gift or reward, and then there is just more to deal with. Let them go!
Oh, I thought I was on Adrian’s sight because I followed her pin.. after i hit “post comment” I realized I was on Melissa’s sight. Anyway, agree with you both!
I still think you should hold a magazine and see if it sparks joy. I have Loads of craft/stamping magazines from years ago. I finally got rid of a lot to crafting friends. Still have some that I’m giving myself a block of time to go through and then share! Yes, some sparked joy and I reread/flipped through them again. Now I’m ready to share!
I hold stamping classes at my house and know that the ladies will love them.
