Remember when this happened to you?
You just moved to a new house or apartment. You are surrounded by boxes that are labeled “kitchen,” “master bedroom,” “garage,” and many, many more.
Because you just have a half-loaf of bread and some tuna, you decide to make yourself a tuna sandwich.
You rip the tape off the nearest “kitchen” box and look in vain for a can opener. You know there are more “kitchen” boxes, so you start a search for the one elusive box that has the can opener in it. You find another “kitchen” box, but it is under a “garage” box that weighs a ton. You manage to get that box off, then try to rip the tape off the other kitchen box, but it will not release its super-glue-like hold. So now you need some scissors or a pocket knife to cut the tape. By some miracle, you find one of those, slice through the tape, rifle through the box, discombobulating the contents so that you can no longer close the box, and STILL can’t find that dang can opener!
Then this scenario repeats about a hundred times over the next few weeks with myriad items, causing frustration and possibly a few swear words. There has to be a better way!
Guess what. There is!
A company in Seattle has developed an app for your phone that lets you know EXACTLY what is in all your boxes! No, it is not an x-ray machine. Let me explain how it works.
The company is called “Livible,” and what they do is pretty darn amazing. They send you a packet of labels with QR codes on them that you stick on your boxes. (You also have the option of printing them out right at home!) Then, with their app on your phone, you can input the name of every item in the box and even take pictures of what is in the box! Then when you want to find a specific thing, you can search for the item you want on your phone, (for example, a can opener), then scan the codes on your boxes and the contents of the box will pop up on your phone. As soon as you find the one with the can opener, eureka! You have found it without moving a bunch of boxes or opening a single one! Pretty cool, right?
There are so many great times that this technology could be a life-saver! Not only can it be used to identify your boxes when you are moving, but you can also use it to help you find your Christmas lights, your camping gear, or your high school yearbooks. You can input where the box is stored (basement, garage, attic) so you know exactly where to look for it.
What if you need to sell your home and you want to clean out so you can stage it? By using these labels, you can quickly pack up your stuff, store it in a storage unit, and then find exactly what you need when you are putting your house back together.
What if you inherit boxes from your parents or others? Imagine the time and aggravation these Livible Labels will save you! Are you convinced yet?
How about using the app for insurance claims in case any of your possessions are damaged? What about putting the labels on file boxes so you know which documents are inside?

This was an AHA!! Moment for me – recently moved house and it was a nightmare both packing and unpacking. This is a magic idea and also from a storage aspect. Love it!!!
Being a single grandmother crafter/seamstress/DIYer, I am in dire need of organization for craft items, sewing patterns, and household improvement items (nails, screws, hand tools, etc) according to size, age, holiday/occasion and/or project.
Here’s to “getting organized” so I don’t spend anymore of my remaining time on Earth searching for items I know I have but just can’t remember where I put them.

I would use these labels to help me identify the storage bins and boxes in my garage! I also pinned it!
Storing all my craft supplies!
